I'm crying, so moved by your words and the fact that I haven't heard your voice for so long. You have always been an inspiration to me with your drive and passion and unique outlook on life. After surviving the worst ordeal in my life, I am at a place where everything looks different to me, too. It is finally, for me, about me and what I want in my life. So glad I found you!!!

Rach,

You and your Mama made me cry. I love you and believe that when a parent can find true happiness inside of themselves, it trickles down to the children. I wished with all my heart that I would have had some of that growing up.
Your passion, love and devotion will always be there for your son, ~ he feels it. The nice thing is he gets to keep those gifts regardless of where you are. Losing my Mom was a huge wake up call for me. The hurt we had to endure while she was alive, I now have to live with even though she has departed. Nothing hurts more than knowing she didn't get the chance for her "soul to get it right", The nice thing for me is, it drives me to work hard on myself, just as you are working on yourself. So my child can be proud of me and my love and happiness can be left behind in her memory forever.

"Did any human being ever reach that kind of light? I call on the resting soul, of Galileo king of night vision, king of insight!"

We can sure try can't we??!! I love you my dear friend and chosen sister. I am so proud of you!

Thank you Jace! Your words mean so much to me! Shannon and I were talking when I was home about how much we wished you were there with us! Along with Beth, the three of us moms spent Mother's Day together with our kids, and it was such a great experience. All these years later, our connection is the same, and in a funny way, so are we!

I am so glad that you can find inspiration in my experiences, it is really my highest hope! You have a place to stay here in Voula whenever you are ready, and please let me know if you need anything from me to help get your ass to Europe!

Keep up the great work with your blog too! I know how difficult it can be, and how much effort it takes to write regularly. You have a gift and I know you will do well!

Love you!

You are my inspiration and I think of you everyday. Your journey has led me to reconsider some of my choices and put things into perspective. I can't express how very proud of you I am and how much I admire your courage. I love that you are there and hope to some day join you in Europe for longer than a visit. I can't wait to buy your book...xoxo Jace

As I was reading Rachel's story I found for the first time since Rachel was maybe 12 I knew what she was talking about! Also not from afar but smack dab in the middle of of her thoughts, feelings, and in person. I have missed many years with Rachel since I had to leave her and move out with her younger brother and sister when she was 16. As a mother I know what Rachel is experiencing when she speaks of having to make decisions that at this time have brought a physical seperation between mother and son. Yet, she is fortunate as thanks to travel and ways of commuicating today she can continue her life with her son, even though they are seperated by land and water.

I had one month of one on one with Rachel and Jake in France. We had a wonderful time and Are still talking! Not only that, but they came to stay for 5 weeks before going off to Texas and "agupe" (Greece); and yes, we are still talking, Yet, more than that I got a chance to be truly be a part of all Rachel has mentioned. I was the mom that got the call to talk about this "boy" she had met in Greece. I saw something different in this relationship and how it was truly bringing out the best in Rachel. During my time in France I got to meet Dimitries and any worries a mother might have were resolved quickly. He is the missing peice that Rachel has been missing in other relationships. Don't get me wrong she is lucky to have found this young Greek, but the Greek boy is lucky to have met Rachel. I beleive it was that thing call fait.

I am writing because as a mom who had to miss so much I got to have a chance to make up and catch up. I got to be the mom who talked to Rachel by Skype and in person with late nights of good wine and real converstion. She was actually asking for my advice and my opinion! The best part she actually listened and even took some of my advice.
So, with that said next year and every year when I look out my living room window and see my Lilace bush in bloom I will think of Rachel and the next time she is home! Along with that our front door will always be open to her and the young "boy" her son and my grnadson Jake..(Snakeman) I miss you both!! Love Alway Mom and Grandma.
