Cite Radieuse by Le Corbusier

Corbu

Modern architect Le Corbusier (poshly French for “The Crow”) designed a building here in Marseilles that he had envisioned would transform metropolitan living in post World War Two France.  It was one of the first live/work/sleep structures of it’s kind and incorporated Corbusier’s signature use of raw concrete.

I had planned to visit the fascinating structure during my time here in Provence, and was ecstatic to discover the existence of the Hotel Corbusier located on the third floor…sleeping in a structure designed by Le Corbusier??? Hell YES!

That night I rested well surrounded by The Crow’s significant contribution to habitation, the next day I recorded the work of art with my camera. While the amenities are not quite in line with the Waldorf, it was in my eyes the most incredible guest room I have ever guested in.
